SAP award win For Business Systems team

Our three-person business systems team has stood up against some of Australasia’s largest corporations to take home a prestigious tech award. The trophy recognises a unique and largely automated system that is allowing client-facing staff to invest more time into their community.

The SAP ANZ award for Best Run Fast Growth Business was presented to the team for their bespoke data collection and reporting system. Impressively, our solution draws on multiple information sources and has significantly reduced the time required for staff to manage their budgets, compliance and performance reporting.

Chief Financial Officer Darren Spencer said the impact of this project had been beyond what they had thought possible.

“We work with several partners to deliver programs that are funded by Australians. It’s imperative we are accountable, transparent and making sure the investment is effective. In the past this has consumed considerable resources for reporting and administration,” he said.

“Our Business Systems team worked collaboratively with front-line teams to understand their frustrations and design a solution that would work in the context of the services they deliver. Having now automated the data collection and analysis, our teams can spend more time focusing on our program participants to help them achieve their goals.

“The system that’s been created benefits our business, the communities where we work and extracts greater value from taxpayer funded programs. It’s a win-win-win scenario.

“The next step will be to explore how we might support other community-focused organisations to improve their information flows by using SAP solutions. We have proven our capability but would be far more accessible than the larger business advisory groups.”

Business Systems Analyst Glenn Gregory said it had been the improved outcomes for community and staff that had stood out in their pitch.

“Integrating SAP software to draw on multiple internal and external data sources has transformed how we do business. And the process of designing this solution has brought our teams closer together” he said.

“We didn’t create the system in isolation. It involved working with teams to map the data collection points, create a common data structure and develop different ways our people can use and report on the data.”

President and Managing Director SAP ANZ Damien Bueno said the award recognised an organisation that had achieved significant growth as the result of implementing SAP technologies.

“This year’s nominations demonstrate the critical role that technology has in helping our customers achieve their business goals and enable future growth by delivering meaningful business results, customer and employee experience, and community impact,” he said.

The award won by My Pathway was a new addition to the annual awards, reflecting the uniqueness of the business systems project.
