Thyra-Lee is feeling more confident and hopeful about her career and future than she ever has before, largely thanks to the support she’s received through ParentsNext.
The young mother has gone from reluctant ParentsNext participant, to one of its biggest advocates after securing her very first employment opportunity with Signature Staff.
“I didn’t have to ask about anything. I was offered a range of opportunities in the program, one of them being Careers in Demand. There I was able to develop my resume and cover letter and I was supported throughout the application process, leading to my success landing the role I’m currently employed in”
Thyra-Lee credits her consultant Tara for helping grow the confidence she needed to start building her future.
“I didn’t expect to have such a positive experience with my consultant, she is so friendly and supportive. Being able to bring my daughter to appointments was also great, and she loves coming to My Pathway. I never thought I’d grow to love attending my ParentsNext appointments!”
Now that she’s secured her first role, Thyra-Lee has big plans for her future.
“I hope to complete a Certificate III in Hospitality and hopefully gain permanent employment in that industry once my youngest goes to school. This will hopefully allow me to rent or buy my own home” she said.
Story Update May 2023
Thyra-Lee has achieved her long-term goal to find a cafe role that would support her move to Brisbane. Following a successfully completed Barista course here in Cairns, Thyra-Lee was able to secure a position in the QLD capital in early May.
We wish Thyra-Lee all the best in her new role and are sure she will continue to excel in whatever she chooses to do next.
