Entrepreneurs are about to have access to more assistance than ever before as they look to bring their business ideas to life. As Self-Employment Assistance rolls out across the country, participants looking to start or strengthen their business can choose from a range of workshops, mentoring, business planning and support for 12 months.
My Pathway will release Self-Employment Assistance from 1 July in the Cairns, Mackay, Darwin/Alice Springs and North and North Western Tasmania regions.
My Pathway Program Manager Janet McIntyre said self-employment had provided income and local services to many regional areas and should be supported.
“Anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit can find some valuable support ranging from exploring a business idea, to making it a reality or taking an existing venture to the next level,” she said.
“This assistance will allow our self-employment community to choose their own pathway, while providing employment opportunities and local services, especially in regional areas.”
My Pathway has supported hundreds of start-ups to get off the ground and existing microbusinesses to strengthen their viability. The organisation has built local business networks that continue to flourish as assistance expands.
Mrs McIntyre said the microbusiness scene was inspired by creativity and a commitment to community.
“You don’t have to look far to find a business that’s received support through My Pathway. We are incredibly proud of local business’ tenacity and commitment to support one another,” she said.
“The participants we work with are incredibly diverse, but all share a curiosity for self-employment. Our role at My Pathway is to help them identify and pursue the support they choose to build sustainable and viable businesses.”
Self-Employment Assistance is part of Workforce Australia, which is a fully-funded initiative of the Australian Government. It comes at no cost to eligible participants.
